Saturday 1st March
The choir attended the annual celebration for St David’s Day at St Michael’s Church.
Other participants were Abertillery Orpheus Male Voice Choir, Ebbw Fach Choir and Abertillery Town Band. The audience also enjoyed the solo voice of Jordan Mills who is a young, local singer. He delighted everyone with the rendition of a Welsh song and he performed it with confidence and showed considerable talent.
The audience joined in with singing well known Welsh hymns, supported by strong accompaniment from the band.

Saturday 10th May
The choir joined in with the Centenary Celebration of Six Bells Park by taking to the stage and singing a range of upbeat songs from our repertoire.
The event was extremely well organised and attracted a large number of visitors.
Fortunately, the weather was warm and sunny which enhanced the day. It was very pleasing to see so many people of all ages supporting the celebration.
There was a wide range of activities and entertainment was provided by several musical organisations. The day was a great success and proved to be a worthy tribute to a well loved park.
Monday 12th May
The choir was asked to attend the funeral of Mrs Anne Weaver who had recently passed away. Anne had been a chorister for forty years and proved to be an exceedingly loyal and talented lady. She worked hard to help with fundraising and was an invaluable member of the committee, ensuring the smooth running of the choir. Anne was always ready to help and she supported all choir activities.
It was an honour to be present at Anne’s funeral and she will be remembered with respect and great fondness.

Saturday 14th June
The choir attended “The Party in the Park” which has become an annual event in our community. The afternoon was well attended and took place in Abertillery Park, which has been enhanced and maintained during recent years, mainly by hard working volunteers within the locality. It is one of the most scenic rugby grounds in the whole of Wales and the choir is proud to support such family based attractions.
Mr Ross Leadbeater was our pianist on this occasion and accompanied the choir in performing a range of uplifting pieces from our repertoire.
Monday 7th July
It was with great sadness that the funeral of Mr Clive Jones took place at St. Paul’s Church, Cwmtillery. Clive was Sian’s husband and he proved to be an extremely supportive follower of the choir. He attended many of our concerts and services and joined us on tours both in Britain and abroad. Clive was popular and a good friend to the choir and will be greatly missed by his family and by everyone who knew him.
Abertillery in Bloom
Later in the day, the choir attended an informal gathering at the Jubilee Square in Church Street. We sang a selection of songs in support of this new initiative. There was a small group of interested parties which consisted of volunteers and a judge who was given the task of visiting many sites in the Abertillery area. The hard working efforts of a small group of people have helped to make Abertillery a more colourful place and we are pleased to provide music in support of initiatives that enhance our environment.
Singing at this event was very pleasing and was enjoyed by all.
Monday 14th July
It was with great pleasure that we welcomed choristers from Mynyddislwyn Ladies Choir. This invitation was given in return for the visit we made to their rehearsal venue, last year.
The evening was a very relaxed occasion where both choirs sang a range of songs from each repertoire. Our visiting ladies were friendly and good humoured so the evening went well with lots of amusement and laughter. At the end of the evening, both choirs enjoyed refreshments of tea, cakes and biscuits.
Hopefully, we will have further opportunities to meet up in the future.

Tuesday 5th August
The choir was very pleased to be invited to sing alongside Abertillery Male Voice Choir at St. Peter’s Church in Blaina. The concert was in aid of The Community Hope Project which was established to raise funds for individuals and families within the locality.
The event was a warm, welcoming occasion and both choirs sang a range of upbeat songs. The concert raised several hundred pounds which will be used to support residents of the area. It is always a great pleasure for the choir to be involved in charity appeals and the evening proved to be very enjoyable.
